The Zambia Federation of the blind has complained of the continued segregation of blind and disabled persons in accessing empowerment funds from government.
Federation President Keshi Chisambi says disabled persons have challenges accessing empowerment funds from institutions such as the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission CEEC due to the complicated procedures put in place.
Mr. Chisambi cited the huge collateral asked by the institution as a requirement to access funds as one major obstacle for the disabled.
He explained that most disabled persons have no properties to put forward as collateral hence being sidelined from accessing the funds.
Mr. Chisambi said this in an interview with prime tv news in Lusaka.
