PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says government will do everything possible to ensure to ensure that challenges that people are facing in the mobile issuance of national registration cards (NRC) and voter registration exercise are addressed.
Speaking when he met chiefs Mukobela and Chikanta President Lungu said he will instruct the ministries involved in the exercise to ensure that no challenges are faced.
And President Lungu has dispelled assertions that the voter registration exercise and the mobile issuance of NRCs have been concentrated in Patriotic Front (PF) strongholds.
President Lungu said he cannot practise cheap politics and get compromised by directing that the two important exercises are taken to PF strongholds to advantage the ruling party in next year’s elections.
He said he is a President with a national character and assured the people of Southern Province that he would ensure that the best candidate carries the day in the 2016 general elections.
He also assured that through the line ministries, Government would ensure that there is continuous voter registration and issuance of NRCs so that many people can participate in national affairs.
President Lungu urged traditional leaders country-wide to help Government through sensitising people on the importance of acquiring NRCs and registering as voters.
